Check out this wild and muddy race video from the recently concluded Skygo Castrol Underbone Dirt Rally Cross at SRP. This time its for the Expert Open Class Final Heat.
Its a soaking wet and muddy Sunday in Cebu for the 4th leg of the Skygo Castrol Underbone Dirt Rally Cross in SRP. The event is sanctioned and organized by PSR and Man & Machine. The weather was very unpredictable that day, it was scorching hot in the morning but it was a major downpour in the afternoon. The whole track was muddy obstacle course with a few deep bogs that caused some major pile-ups as it gobbled up front tires. Lap times significantly slowed down but a few riders remained blazing fast despite the difficult race conditions.
In the Beginners Category it was another masterful performance by Jeager Sienes of PSR/Skygo he encountered mechanical problems in the morning but his quick acting crew got him on track again during the final race. Jr Gauliza of Cabrera Racing Team proved to be a handful for Jeager right up to the middle rounds but the former was too slippery in the muddy sections as he was clearly enjoying the crazy track conditions. Gilbert Abatayo managed to keep up with the 2 leaders but after crashing several times he faded into the chase pack. Jeager continued with his duel with Jr, he defended his lead all the way to the finish line they are followed by Gilbert Abatayo, Meldrin Villostubo, and Joseph Fuentes.
In the Novice Open the Boholano lightning bolt Sadam Ganob of Canduay Racing Team caught the Cebuano riders off guard. He was a monster on the starts and was virtually unstoppable. He was so fast despite the very muddy and slippery conditions and only one rider was able to keep up with his relentless pace it was John Flores of NCX Racing who was agile on the soaking wet race track. The two riders were on a class of their own. Sadam kept on pressing forward and never lost his composure. He takes top finish with a comfortable winning margin, he is followed by John Flores, Jr. Gauliza, Malbert Rama and Reymarx "Emok" Tarona.
If you think lightning bolts don’t strike back on the same location you should think again. The Boholano lightning bolt Sadam Ganob of Canduay racing team wreaks havoc again in the Expert Class. He was virtually unstoppable, despite the very chaotic starts where 24 determined riders were funneled into a narrow first turn Sadam proved to be too slippery as he took the hole shot and was the first one out of the 2nd turn. John Flores of NCX managed to keep up but encountered mechanical problems after 4 laps. Jubenille Abellar rode consistently to grab the 3rd position but he was hounded by Malbert Rama of Ervyn Racing.John Flores was significantly slowed down but he still managed to keep Erwin Albaracin under wraps. Sadam Ganob continued with his onslaught and he took the checkered flag by storm, he is followed by Jubenille Abellar, Malbert Rama, John Flores and Erwin Albaracin.
Heavy rain on reclaimed land proved to be a nightmare for cars and motorcycles fitted with street tires but never the less this did not become a hindrance for dirt race enthusiasts to brave the race venue despite getting stuck on the way. A muddy wet race is fun and it will always brings fond memories of childhood were you got to go crazy on a rainy day. I guess its the reason why dirt riders always have a big grin on their faces when they see heavy clouds approaching from the horizon. Its gonna be another wild day in the mud.
