OZ Racing Corporation held its Press Conference at Fine Cuisine
Restaurant at Park Mall Mandaue on March 20, 2009 2:00 PM.
OZR Corp. took some time in their busy schedule to meet up
with the Press to promote the OZR Grand Prix 2009. Media groups
from the Newspapers, TV, Radio, Web and Magazines were in attendance.
OZR Corp. emphasized the goals of the said event is to promote, discover
and cultivate new breed of talents within our local riders and
ultimately be able to come-up with a roster that will someday compete
in the national and international stage. Aside from that they want
to promote the sport of underbone circuit racing to discourage
illegal street racing, promote safety riding and foster good
sportsmanship.
There are a lot of pretty exciting developments read on to know more.
1. Arnel UT: After holding the OZR 2008 Race Season, in your
assessment do Cebuano riders have the talent
and skills to compete in the national level?
Zandro Fajardo: As of now its to early to tell since
the sport is still in its infancy in Cebu
and we have only been doing it only for a year.
We have still a long way to go but we are getting
there, brilliant performances occured in 2008
and perhaps this year or the coming years new
talent will emerge or with the experience being
gained by our local riders they will gradually
sharpen their skills to be competitive in the
national stage.
2. Arnel UT: What can underbone racing fans expect from
the OZR Grand Prix 2009? What makes it different
from the 2008 Racing Season?
Zandro Fajardo: Well we have been preparing for a long time
to make the 2009 race season special. Racing fans
can expect more riders, new race conditions, new
look. We are especially proud of our teams and riders
pit area (paddocks) which we have adapted to the style of
the Malaysian Cub Prix and more importantly
they can expect intense race action.
3. Arnel UT: OZR Corp. has signed a deal with Yamaha Motor Philippines.
What role are they going to play in the 2009 racing
season?
Chad Mascarinas: Yamaha Motor Philippines is going to be
a major sponsor of the OZR Grand Prix and if
there are no conflicts in race schedule Cebuanos
will get a chance to meet the Yamaha Factory
Race riders in person during the course of the
racing season.
4. Arnel UT: Will the OZR Bike Show push through?
Zandro Fajardo: As of now we have put our focus on the race
and the Bike Show is moved to another schedule,
we have decided to make it into a separate Event but there
will be a Bike Exhibit and Mr. Tui Antonio Marketing
and leasing Manager of Parkmall will discuss more about
it.
Tui Antonio: Yes, also on the same date as the race we will
be having a bike exhibit inside the mall. It will
be purely exhibit only and is non-competitive. This
will serve as an enhancement to the race event.
The official bike show will push through on a
future date and future announcements will be
made about this event. For interested exhibitors
you can contact us at 236-4147 or 238-5412
5. Arnel UT: Can you give us a preview for the OZR Motard Race Series
Zandro Fajardo: Regarding the motard series its still in its planning
stages but the tentative date is April. We have invited
teams from differents parts of the country and are still
in the process of getting the feel on the number of
participants.
6. Arnel UT: Will there be races done outside of Cebu as
part of the 2009 Season?
Zandro Fajardo: Yes we have been talking with Racing Line and
we will be having races in Cagayan, Bacolod and Iloilo
our local riders who are going to join the out of town
races will double their points.
One cool question from the Freeman was If there was going to be a
media category on the race. Mr. Zandro Fajardo eagerly replied that
he has been planning of staging it on the Final Leg. This is
to give a chance for the media to experience the sport of underbone
circuit racing. That certainly go me excited, I could only imagine
myself being inside the race track and competing with the other media
groups. Well I shall certainly look foward to this event. I shall
do my best not to crash hehehe.
Special Thanks to OZ Racing Corp. and Fine Cuisine Restaurant for the
tasty meal.
